Wow!

I hear a lot of thrice influence in there... a bit of iron maiden... maybe some machinae supremacy?

Either way... Two thumbs way WAAAAY fucking up.
Nicely done! I'm making a playlist on my ipod for you! XD
Nevermind demo, this sounds like a fucking release song. Very tight sound! >XD

You guys have a CD? I'd totally buy it! Like seriously. (I don't buy CDs, but - hell - I'll make an exception!)

...a fan

Love-Hate-War responds:

Oooooooooooh YUM!

Me loves me some FFVI! XD
I've never heard this song remixed before, but if I had, that would definitely be up there with the best! Very creative take on the original.
BTW I wrote that string quartet... But then I added a bunch more strings into it... and a piano.
It's still good though ~_^
take a listen if you like.

Oh yum!!!

ORIGINALITY: Aside from the fact that you didn't totally write this, it's beautiful. Love the rendition of the classic tune.

CLARITY: Clear message, but not so clear quality. It sounds washed out. I'd like to hear it more in the foreground.

DIVERSITY: No complaints. It's Charlie Parker after all. ^_^

EFFORT: Can't tell if you put alot into this or not, so ten for you.

OVERALL: Okay, you get 10's accross the board (with the exception of originality and clarity), just because I love this song so much. Very nice rendition of it.

WinTang responds:

Yeah Parker's tune rules huh? I was taking guitar lessons at the time and I had to study this, so I decided to have my little way with it :)
This again has no mastering done whatsoever, it's just 3 guitar tracks (1 does the chords, 1 does the melody and soloing, 1 has distortion and a pitch shifter an octave down and is played with a slide for that incredibly whiny sound).
That makes you absolutely right in your clarity remark!
And glad you liked it still :)

Heya! XD

ORIGINALITY: Very very original. Very well done. No criticisms.

CLARITY: Clearly intended to sound low quality. So I can't complain about that. I loved the gameboy mood that it created. Very inspiring. Maybe I'll write something like this one day.

DIVERSITY: It was a little short. I'd like to see you write more like this. Something longer, and more complete.

EFFORT: Sounds like it took a fair bit of effort to make it sound authentic.

OVERALL: I like it alot, but I'd really like to hear more.

WinTang responds:

Oh it will be fun expanding this idea, this is pure Impulse Tracker fun and I still love working with that program, it's great for goofy 8/16-bit sounding music.
I'll definitely look into a K'nex II!
This was also made before I discovered the wonders of panning so there's lots to gain here still.
So thanks for another fair review!

Nicely done! ^_^

ORIGINALITY: It's fairly original. Maybe a bit to reminescent of something, but MAYBE that's a good thing. After all, this was fun to listen to (like 10 times in a row).

CLARITY: The 'message' came accross clearly, but in this case, i'll take off a couple points for the murky sounding quality. With a good audio program, that can be removed.

DIVERSITY: Not increadibly diverse, but at least it's consistant. I like the mood, so that makes up for it alot.

EFFORT: Since this was your first piece, I imagine you put a fair amount of effor into it. Two thumbs up! XD

OVERALL: Room for improvement, but still awesomely good.

WinTang responds:

Well yeah, it was my first piece submitted here but in the beginning of my NG era I just submitted everything I'd recorded in my life :)
Clarity is not too good here, I admit, I'll have to try a little compression and stuff if I ever really want this to go somewhere.
Thanks for the comments!

You're quite good at this, aren't you?

Actually, this is THE song that convinced me to put your stuff on my ipod. Listening to this, I'm reminded undoubtedly of Massive Attack's Danny the Dog Soundtrack. If you haven't heard it, pm me, and I'll send it to you. It's very calming, like this.

ORIGINALITY: Very original. One point off, because I could so easily compare it to Massive Attack, but that's something I'd be proud of. I've always wanted to write a massive attack style song.

CLARITY: Very clear. Very defined. Well executed. Sounds like a Massive Attack song. What more do I need to say?

DIVERSITY: Giving you a nine instead of a ten, because it's a build up track. But don't worry about that. After all, it's a build up track. They don't need to be diverse.

EFFORT: Sounds like you put alot of effort into this. Also, it's apparently one of your favorite works. I'll take your word for it. ~_^

OVERALL: Beautiful. Nothing else to say. ten out of ten.

Keep it up.

WinTang responds:

Cool! I love being on people's iPods!
I love Massive Attack so you've complimented me there, big time.
It is indeed one of my favorite works and you (and everyone, for that matter) should really really check out the version on PedroMancuso's account, he added Portuguese vocals and it's even more awesome hehe. Here: http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/view.php?id=1377609&sub=63816
Thanks a lot, again!

once again, flawless! XD

Everything I said in the review of the other version applies here. Every bit. Beautiful job, mate!

WinTang responds:

:)

O. M. G. ... 0_0

I'm giving this all tens simply because I have no idea how to rate this. It just totally overwhelmed me, and it wouldn't be fair to give my opinion on something this far over my head.

ORIGINALITY: First off, you wrote this?! Like it's not a redoing of some classical piece. Because if this is yours, hat's off to you. really, this is mind blowing. XD

CLARITY: This is so increadibly melancholly. It reminds me of Resi Evil one a little bit. Or that movie "Strings" with the marianettes. Either way, It has a consistant mood throughout, and is very well executed.

DIVERSITY: It's a string quartet. Even if it wasn't diverse, who cares? String quartets are like above the law.

EFFORT: One can never tell how much effort is put into a piece like this. It seems effortless, but someone once said, "it takes a hell of alot of effort to make something appear effortless." So a ten for you. I don't usually do that.

OVERALL: First off, I've ALWAYS wanted to write a string quartet. But never knew how to go about it. You've inspired me to try anyway. And the song is absolutely beautiful. 10 for you. :P

WinTang responds:

Haha wow, no this was not effortless, it took a lot of time because of the sustaining D that I've told more about in some other responses.
Writing a string quartet is a really good challenge, because you're trying to construct 4 more or less independent melodies, that harmonize together. You'll gain a lot of insight in the theoretical aspect of composing - I really recommend you try one, I'll be interested to check it out.
Thanks a lot for your kind words!

Very nice! ^_^

I'm really sorry I didn't get around to reviewing your stuff earlier. ^_^'
I had a lot of stuff going on, (just moved to a new city and all), but now i've got lots of time, so I'll review a bunch of your stuff to make up for it.

ORIGINALITY: Very original. Nothing I can think of to criticize, except that some of the riffs sound reminiscent of something I can't put my finger on. But that's most likely just me, nitpicking.

CLARITY: Very, very clear. When I say clear, I don't mean the audio quality, but instead the execution of getting across whatever image, story or feeling you were trying to get across. You've got a real talent for setting a mood! ^_^

DIVERSITY: Fairly diverse. It was kind of short, and I listened to it quite a few times, so it started to feel a little repetitive, but once again, that's just me. disregard that in fact.

EFFORT: Well, perfect effort. Nothing at all to complain about. I almost never give 10's for effort though, because there's always room for improvement no matter what. Don't get me wrong, this is amazingly awesome! and I wouldn't suggest you change anything. But there's no such thing as 100 percent effort; or if there is, i imagine it's very very hard to attain. o_0
You know what? disregard that too. It's all good.

OVERALL: Yes. Overall 10. even though there were a few complaints, I know it was just me looking for a nonexistant flaw. So I'm giving you teh ten! XD

Keep 'em coming! ^_^

WinTang responds:

Thank you muchly!
The riff is identical to the one in Sick Of It All's "Let go" :) it's actually a lil' sample. So that's what you may have recognized.
I'd have given this an 8 for effort myself, hehe. But I still like it, and I'm glad you did too!

OMG! You are amazing!

This is so good. You are one of my favorite artists on this site. Don't stick to newgrounds for too long. Your music is too good for it. Try to get out there! Send out demos and stuff. I think you really have great potential! ^^

Very original, and relaxing. Beautiful overall tone. Not much more to say but, "Never give up music"

Smad responds:

Thanks so much for the review.
Lol, I love all your music your one of my favourite artists, up there with ParagonX9, DJ Runaway and Flashburn XD.
